These higher-margin products are expected to represent\u00a0over 60% of total sales by 2028.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Ence is developing the largest diversified renewable energy platform based on biomass in the Iberian Peninsula, transforming this raw material into regulated electricity, renewable industrial heat, biomethane, and renewable fuels.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Launch of an Efficiency and Competitiveness Plan\u00a0to be implemented between 2025 and 2027, based on two pillars: the deployment of Artificial Intelligence solutions, process reengineering and automation, and the rationalization of operational processes. This plan has an\u00a0annual cash cost savings potential of approximately \u20ac22\/t.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Ence has presented its results for the first nine months of the year, marked by the depreciation of the U.S. dollar against the euro and the decline in pulp prices, which reached lows of\u00a0$1,000 per ton\u00a0in the second half of August 2025.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The company reduced its\u00a0operating costs by 30% in the Pulp business\u00a0in the third quarter and continued advancing its transformation into a specialty pulp manufacturer \u2014 highly competitive in unit costs compared to long-fiber producers and a benchmark in revenue per ton compared to short-fiber producers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Sales of specialty pulps, which have a\u00a0\u20ac33 higher margin per ton\u00a0than standard pulp, grew\u00a030% in volume up to September\u00a0and are expected to represent\u00a062% of total sales by 2028, including the new\u00a0125,000-ton fluff pulp line, now operational and in the product certification phase.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">With this new line, Ence has become\u00a0the only European producer of short-fiber-based fluff pulp, used in the manufacture of absorbent hygiene products, and holds a\u00a0unique competitive position\u00a0versus long-fiber producers importing from the U.S. with higher costs and carbon footprints.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">The company continues to make progress in developing\u00a0its diversified biomass-based renewable energy platform.\u00a0In the third quarter, within the\u00a0renewable industrial heat business, construction began on\u00a0two new projects\u00a0with a combined estimated annual production of around\u00a085 GWht\/year, and a new\u00a0operation and maintenance contract\u00a0was signed for an existing plant with an estimated annual production of approximately\u00a035 GWht. In the\u00a0biomethane business, Ence\u2019s project portfolio now includes\u00a018 plants in advanced administrative processing\u00a0and another\u00a020 projects with completed location and feasibility studies, while\u00a0renewable fuel projects\u00a0continue their administrative procedures.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Recovery Outlook<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Pulp prices bottomed out in August. Since then, global producers have announced price increases, which are already reflected in reference indices, showing\u00a0improvements of $60\/t\u00a0over gross prices in Europe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Additionally, the\u00a0removal of U.S. import tariffs on pulp in September, together with\u00a0scheduled maintenance shutdowns by major Latin American producers in Q4 2025\u00a0(approximately 0.5 million tons), should help consolidate this positive market trend.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><b>Financial Results<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Up to September, the company recorded\u00a0pulp sales volumes of 732,406 tons,\u00a01.4% lower\u00a0than in the same period of the previous year. However,\u00a0third-quarter pulp sales were 13% higher\u00a0than in the same quarter of 2024 and\u00a08% higher\u00a0than in the previous quarter, reflecting a reactivation of trade flows in the industry following the easing of tariff tensions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In this context of declining pulp prices, Ence reduced its\u00a0average cost per ton by \u20ac29\/t\u00a0in the quarter, down to\u00a0\u20ac459\/t.\u00a0The company also launched an\u00a0Efficiency and Competitiveness Plan\u00a0to be implemented during 2025\u20132027, with an\u00a0annual cash cost savings potential of approximately \u20ac22\/t\u00a0and an\u00a0estimated cash outflow of \u20ac23 million over two years.\u00a0This represents a\u00a0Net Present Value (NPV) of approximately \u20ac200 million.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In the\u00a0Renewables business, accumulated\u00a0EBITDA through September was \u20ac18 million, compared to\u00a0\u20ac21 million\u00a0in the same period of 2024. The decline was due to lower production resulting from maintenance operations carried out during the year and subsequent ramp-ups. However, in the third quarter,\u00a0EBITDA improved to \u20ac8 million, compared to\u00a0\u20ac4 million\u00a0in the previous quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Free cash flow, before efficiency and growth investments, was\u00a0positive at \u20ac12 million\u00a0in the quarter, despite low pulp prices.\u00a0Working capital variation\u00a0contributed\u00a0\u20ac18 million in cash inflows, mainly in the Pulp business, driven by lower inventories and receivables following the collection of\u00a0\u20ac13 million in Energy Savings Certificates (including VAT)\u00a0recorded in the previous quarter.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">In the first nine months of 2025, the company reported a\u00a0net attributable loss of \u20ac22 million, compared to\u00a0a profit of \u20ac41 million\u00a0in the same period of 2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Net financial debt\u00a0as of the end of September stood at\u00a0\u20ac367 million, with\u00a0\u20ac264 million in cash\u00a0\u2014\u00a0\u20ac256 million\u00a0from the Pulp business and\u00a0\u20ac111 million\u00a0from Renewables.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-24408\" src=\"https:\/\/ence.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/3Q25_Recurso-4@2x-100.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"100%\" height=\"auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ence.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/3Q25_Recurso-4@2x-100.jpg 1635w, https:\/\/ence.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/3Q25_Recurso-4@2x-100-300x120.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ence.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/3Q25_Recurso-4@2x-100-1024x410.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ence.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/3Q25_Recurso-4@2x-100-768x307.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ence.es\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/3Q25_Recurso-4@2x-100-1536x614.jpg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1635px) 100vw, 1635px\" \/><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>30% growth in sales volume of specialty pulps\u00a0during the first nine months of 2025 compared to the same period in 2024.
