Safety and health in the forestry sector are top priorities for Ence Terra, a company focused on promoting the development, sustainability, and visibility of the forest industry. To achieve this goal, the chainsaw operator training center the company operates in Villalba (Lugo) has played a key role since its opening in December 2024.<\/p>\n

Since then, the center has hosted 18 work sessions attended by 71 chainsaw operators from Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria. All participants are involved in forestry operations linked to Ence Terra. This training has helped enhance safety and professionalism in the sector.<\/p>\n

In parallel, Ence Terra has promoted specialized training sessions for forestry machine operators, aimed at nearly 100 professionals from Galicia, Asturias, and Cantabria. These sessions are designed to raise awareness about preventive practices in this key role, and to share experiences and improvements in safety and health in mechanized forestry operations.<\/p>\n

New ISSGA Guide<\/strong><\/p>\n

In this context, the Galician Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (ISSGA) presented its guide titled \u201cPPE in the Workplace \u2013 Forestry Sector\u201d<\/em> at Ence Terra\u2019s training center in Villalba.<\/p>\n

This technical tool is intended to prevent occupational risks in the forestry field. The document outlines the Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to ensure workers\u2019 safety during different sector-specific tasks. The main goal is to inform and guide proper use of such equipment, in order to minimize risks associated with activities like logging, high-altitude pruning, brush clearing, material transport, and operation of heavy machinery.<\/p>\n

The event was attended by Adela Quinz\u00e1-Torroja Garc\u00eda, ISSGA\u2019s manager, and Mar\u00eda Encarnaci\u00f3n Sousa, the institute\u2019s Deputy General Director of Technical and Planning Affairs. Members of ISSGA\u2019s forestry technical working group also participated, including technical personnel from the institute, Ence, Finsa, Fearmaga, and the Provincial Association of First-Stage Wood Processing Companies of Lugo.<\/p>\n
