Ence has announced this morning the ruling of its Social Plan in a ceremony held in Pontevedra, which was attended by representatives of the company and the Xunta de Galicia. At the event, Antonio Casal, representing Ence, and Agustín Reguera, Territorial delegate of the Xunta in Pontevedra, have highlighted the importance of this program for the development and welfare of the community.
The Monitoring Committee of the Environmental Pact, composed of the Xunta de Galicia and Ence, has completed the process of evaluation and selection of projects of the Social Plan of Ence Pontevedra, corresponding to its edition of 2024. The specialised consultancy Valora has carried out a detailed analysis of all the applications submitted.
In this edition, a total of 286 projects will benefit from the Ence Pontevedra Social Plan, an initiative to which the company allocates, in each edition, three million euros to promote the development and welfare of society in Pontevedra and its surroundings.
Applications submitted
With regard to the beneficiaries of the 2024 edition, the area of action with the highest number of applications was the promotion of grassroots and elite sport, with 116, followed by education and culture, with 57 winning projects. Other initiatives linked to social inclusion (48 projects); recovery and care of the environment (45 projects) and entrepreneurship and innovation have reached a total of 21 projects.
The entities or individuals who have applied for aid from the Social Plan will receive in the coming days the communication of Ence with the resolution of the call through their respective emails.
The Pontevedra biofactory, a benchmark in sustainability
The commitment to sustainability and care for the environment is strategic for Ence. In this regard, the Pontevedra biofactory has been repeatedly recognised for its efforts in sustainability and environmental care. Among the most outstanding awards and certifications are the AENOR Award for two decades of environmental commitment, recognition by Sustainalytics as the most sustainable company in its sector worldwide, and the Ecovadis Platinum Medal, which identifies Ence at the global forefront of sustainability.
In addition, the plant has received the Nordic Swan ecolabel from the Nordic countries, the European Commission’s Gold Medal for its environmental improvement, and AENOR’s ‘Zero Waste’ certificate. The biomass it uses also has the ‘Sure’ certificate, which guarantees its sustainability.
