EMPIEZA. CONTADOR:1

Biomass is the only renewable energy source capable of delivering clean, reliable and dispatchable energy. As a carbon-neutral fuel, it supports decarbonisation while strengthening the competitiveness of the economy, making it a key enabler of the transition towards a low-carbon energy system.

Magnon supplies certified locally sourced biomass to customers seeking to decarbonise their industrial processes through renewable fuels. Thanks to its extensive expertise and strong environmental commitment, the company guarantees a stable, sustainable and local biomass supply.

Magnon offers a portfolio of more than 20 biomass products, evolving from an exclusively forest-based fuel mix to a predominantly agroforestry biomass model across many of its power plants. The company also invests continuously in research and development to expand its product range while improving quality and cost competitiveness.

Renewable power generation plants

3

Andalusia

Huelva Energy Complex

Comprising three biomass power plants with a combined installed capacity of 137 MW, the Huelva Energy Complex is the largest biomass power generation facility in Spain and one of the most advanced in Europe. It generates more than 800 GWh of renewable electricity every year by recovering energy from over 800,000 tonnes of locally sourced agroforestry biomass.

The plants mainly use SURE-certified agroforestry biomass from agricultural crops such as olive groves, vineyards, fruit orchards and almond trees, including firewood, pruning residues, leaves and olive by-products such as olive pomace. This is complemented by forest biomass including eucalyptus, pine, scrubland, rockrose and mixed forestry residues, together with sawmill by-products and cork.

The facility is SURE certified.

5

Extremadura

Mérida Energy Complex

The Mérida Energy Complex has an installed capacity of 20 MW and is recognised for its operational efficiency and environmental performance. It produces around 160 GWh of renewable electricity each year from approximately 200,000 tonnes of sustainable biomass, making a significant contribution to clean energy generation in Extremadura.

The biomass used at the plant comes from agricultural crops such as olive groves, vineyards and fruit orchards, together with forest biomass including eucalyptus, pine and mixed forestry residues obtained through sustainable forest and agroforestry management.

The facility is SURE certified.

7

Castile-La Mancha

Enemansa Energy Complex , Ciudad Real

With an installed capacity of 16 MW, the Enemansa Energy Complex generates more than 100 GWh of renewable electricity every year, enough to supply the annual electricity demand of almost 30,000 households.

The plant specialises in recovering energy from olive pomace, a by-product generated by nearby olive mills. This is an outstanding example of the circular bioeconomy, transforming agricultural residues into renewable electricity through an efficient and sustainable process.

The facility is SURE certified.

9

Castile La Mancha

Puertollano Energy Complex, Ciudad Real

Known as Biollano 50 MW, this plant generates more than 325 GWh of renewable electricity annually, enough to supply almost 100,000 households.

It is one of Spain’s clearest examples of the energy transition, having been built on the site of the former Elcogás coal-fired power station. Today it represents the successful transformation of a fossil-fuel facility into a flagship renewable biomass power plant.

Its fuel mix is based on locally sourced agroforestry biomass, including residues from olive groves, vineyards and fruit orchards, together with forest biomass such as pine, eucalyptus and mixed forestry residues, as well as sawmill by-products.

The plant operates exclusively with SURE-certified biomass, fully compliant with the Renewable Energy Directive (RED). It is also designed to support the capture of biogenic CO₂ for the future production of renewable methanol, contributing directly to Spain’s and the European Union’s climate objectives.

11

Andalusia

La Loma Energy Complex , Jaén

Located in Villanueva del Arzobispo (Jaén), La Loma has an installed capacity of 16 MW and generates more than 90 GWh of renewable electricity each year, enough to supply nearly 30,000 households.

The plant is SURE certified and specialises in recovering energy from olive-growing residues produced in the province of Jaén, one of Andalusia’s most emblematic agricultural regions. It also uses firewood, pruning residues, leaves and olive processing by-products such as olive pomace.

13

Andalusia

Lucena Energy Complex, Córdoba

Located in the province of Córdoba, the Lucena Energy Complex has an installed capacity of 27 MW and can generate up to 197 GWh of renewable electricity every year, enough to supply almost 60,000 households, making an important contribution to the region’s clean electricity supply.

The plant uses locally sourced biomass from olive groves and fruit orchards, including firewood, pruning residues, leaves and by-products from olive processing, particularly olive pomace.

The facility is SURE certified.
