Magnon Green Energy highlights in Almonaster la Real the strategic role of the rural sector in energy transition

The Director of Biomass Utilisation and Quality at Magnon Green Energy, Alberto Domínguez, participated in the ‘Sustainable Industry’ sectoral round table as part of the ‘Entrepreneurship with Impact’ conference held in Almonaster la Real and promoted by the Huelva City Council and the Huelva Provincial Council. The meeting brought together numerous companies, institutions and entrepreneurs committed to a model of rural development that focuses on sustainability, local roots and the responsible use of natural resources.

During his participation, Alberto Domínguez, Director of Biomass Use and Quality at Magnon Green Energy, highlighted the fundamental role of the agroforestry sector as a supplier of renewable raw materials for energy generation. “Every tonne of biomass that we convert into energy is a tonne that is not burned uncontrollably in the countryside. It means jobs, environmental safety, manageable energy and a future for our villages” he stressed.

The company pointed out that its activity in 2024 prevented the emission of thousands of tonnes of CO₂, contributed to the cleaning of forests and mobilised more than one million tonnes of sustainable biomass, which was transformed into renewable energy at its plants, three of which are located in Huelva. This model not only generates renewable electricity and heat, but also boosts the rural economy, stabilises the population and strengthens the productive identity of regions at risk of depopulation.

At the table, shared with other initiatives in the region such as GTA Ingeniería del Medio Natural, MATSA, Megara Energía and Renovables del Múrtiga, Magnon defended the need to align industry, territory and community around an energy model that is clean, local and socially just.

The ‘Entrepreneurship with Impact’ conference has consolidated the Sierra de Huelva as a benchmark for entrepreneurship with a positive impact and has highlighted the potential of the rural environment as a driver of sustainable and resilient solutions to the challenges of climate change and depopulation.
