This renewable energy production served the needs of nearly one million people

Magnon Green Energy generated nearly 1,170 GWh in 2024, 23% more than in 2023

  • In Andalusia, Magnon’s renewable energy generation increased from 656.4 GWh in 2023 to 843.8 GWh in 2024, while Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura also saw increases, reaching 234.2 GWh and 89.0 GWh, respectively.
  • In 2024, Ence’s subsidiary consumed 1,385,138 tons of biomass, 17% more than the previous year.

Magnon Green Energy, a leader in renewable energy production with agroforestry biomass in Spain, has consolidated its benchmark position with an increase in the production rate of its facilities.

Ence’s renewable energy subsidiary closed 2024 with 1,167 GWh generated, 23% more than in the previous year. This record is enough to supply almost one million people. This achievement reinforces its key role in the transition to a sustainable energy model and in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda.

The increased pace of production from its facilities has been reflected in all the regions in which Magnon operates. In Andalusia, renewable energy generation has increased from 656.4 GWh in 2023 to 843.8 GWh in 2024, while Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura have also seen increases, reaching 234.2 GWh and 89.0 GWh, respectively.

Boosting regional development

This growth is supported by the increased operational efficiency of the plants and the use of agricultural and forestry biomass. In 2024, Magnon consumed 1,385,138 tons of biomass, 17% more than in 2023. This increase in biomass utilization capacity, in addition to reinforcing its commitment to sustainability, makes a significant contribution to the development of the rural environment by contributing to the creation of quality employment.

Magnon currently operates eight renewable energy plants using biomass, located in Andalusia, Castilla-La Mancha and Extremadura. The company, the first in Spain in the production of renewable energy with forest and agricultural biomass, has a total installed capacity of 266 MW of generation with agroforestry biomass.

Renewable energy with biomass has enormous development potential in Spain. In fact, it is the only renewable energy that presents a positive economic balance due to the benefits generated, given its capacity for job creation, development of the rural environment and contribution to the improvement of the environment. In this sense, in addition to the capture of CO2, its contribution to the care and cleanliness of the mountains, with a reduction in the risk of fires of up to 70%, as well as the use of agricultural biomass, which avoids its uncontrolled burning in our fields, should be highlighted.
