During the first half of 2022, the set of 5 plants that Magnon has in Andalusia have generated more than 515 GWh of renewable and manageable energy, enough to cover the electricity needs of almost 400,000 people. Only the Huelva energy complex, in which 3 of the Andalusian plants are located, has produced the amount of energy necessary to supply the homes of a city like Córdoba.
The company has plants in Andalusia in three provinces: three that make up the Huelva energy complex, the most important in Spain in biomass power generation, one located in Lucena (Córdoba) and another in Villanueva del Arzobispo (Jaén). The Magnon centers represent an important economic engine for these provinces, specifically, the activity of Magnon has a social impact of 4,500 jobs, mainly generated in the towns adjacent to the plants and in the Andalusian fields, according to data provided by the Association of Renewable Energy companies (APPA).
The generation of energy with biomass is not only a paradigm of the circular economy, but also avoids the mismanagement of agroforestry remains, which leads to their abandonment in natural spaces and, on numerous occasions, an uncontrolled burning of the same. , with serious environmental consequences. Good management of these remains protects the mountains and, in addition, helps the stability of the system, since the energy produced through biomass is the only renewable that can be managed.
In Huelva, Magnon has the most important and advanced biomass generation energy complex in Spain, in which 3 plants with a total capacity of 137 MW are located. Among them is Huelva 50MW, the most important in Spain and one of the main plants in Europe in this technology. In 2020, it started up its youngest plant on the premises, Huelva 46MW.
On the other hand, its Lucena plant is located in the province of Córdoba, with a total capacity of 27 MW. This consumes orujillo as fuel, very abundant in the surroundings of the facilities, and olive tree pruning.
The last of the Andalusian provinces in which Magnon operates is Jaén. At its La Loma plant, located in Villanueva del Arzobispo, it has an installed capacity of 16 MW and, like Lucena, consumes mainly pomace and olive pruning.
Magnon has spent years helping to position Andalusia as a benchmark in the green economy, promoting renewable energies and the social and economic development of this community through an activity that not only promotes the decarbonisation of the electricity system, but also generates sustainable employment. and quality in a decentralized way, mainly in rural areas, so necessary to stop the depopulation of “Empty Spain”.
