FSC® accredits the promotion and preservation of biodiversity in two new woodlands managed by Ence

Ence has recently added two new forest areas to the areas under its management with FSC® Ecosystem Services Certification (licence code FSC®-C099970) for the promotion and preservation of its biodiversity. These are the Conservation Areas located in the Los Rasos (Huelva) and Cernadas (A Coruña) forests, which add 178 and 24 hectares, respectively, to those already certified in Aracena (Huelva) and Santarandel (A Coruña).

With this new certification, Ence reaches 2,135 hectares with FSC® certification in the Biodiversity Ecosystem Service, demonstrating the company’s commitment to improving the environment, promoting sustainability and environmental development through the forests it manages.

By including new areas in the aforementioned certification, Ence reaffirms its commitment to sustainable forest management, which brings benefits for the natural environment and the society that inhabits it. Thanks to this sustainable forest management, biodiversity is preserved in natural environments, both fauna and flora, and, through the capture of carbon dioxide by trees, climate change mitigation is favoured.

By obtaining this certification, the FSC® recognises the social and environmental values intrinsic to Ence’s management, focused on guaranteeing the protection of our habitats. All these aspects are included in the company’s Biodiversity Plan, one of the pillars of which is the promotion of the certification of ecosystem services and the enhancement of the natural capital of Ence’s heritage.
