Management of forest resources, applied research on species yield, cultivation, care and maintenance for the extraction of timber and biomass are our main activities in forestry.
Therefore, we have developed a transparent, efficient, and responsible forest management, applying the most demanding criteria of corporate responsibility and recognized internationally. Thus, Ence has been a pioneer certification inundertaking certification projects in Spain, not only of their own forests, but extending this policy to their immediate environment by encouraging certification of the surfaces of its partners and collaborators.
Furthermore, Ence puts all means at its disposal to promote and enhance the management of the forest owners by transferring knowledge, contributing improved plant at competitive prices, as well as through training and information and the development of environmental awareness programs.
As indicated in its publications, Ence operates through a Management Plan that integrates a rational utilization of all goods and services from the forests, both productive and ecological and social.
Ence Spain manages nearly 70,000 ha, of which over 57% are owned by them. Pulp production and energy consumption of the Group consumes about 3.7 million m3 of wood per year, representing about 20% of the pulpwood production in Spain.
The forestry heritage of Ence in Spain is certified according to the most advanced international standards in Forest Management and Traceability Chain of custody, and Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) by 85% and Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC) by 69%.
