- Grassroots and elite sports once again lead participation, with 137 applications submitted
- Education and culture account for 83 projects, while environmental and social inclusion initiatives each exceed 60 proposals
Ence’s Social Plan in Pontevedra has closed the application period for its seventh call, receiving a total of 367 project proposals, further consolidating the initiative as one of the main instruments for collaboration and support for the social, cultural, sports, and community fabric of Pontevedra, Marín, and Poio.
The strong participation recorded in this new edition highlights the commitment of organizations, associations, sports clubs, forest community organizations, educational institutions, and entrepreneurs to the social, environmental, and economic development of the region.
By area of activity, grassroots and elite sports once again rank as the category with the highest number of applications, reaching 137 projects, confirming the importance of sport as a tool for education, integration, and social cohesion across the territory.
This is followed by education and culture, which recorded 83 initiatives, reflecting the dynamism of organizations working to promote knowledge, learning, and the preservation and dissemination of local cultural heritage.
Meanwhile, the line dedicated to environmental restoration and improvement received 61 projects, highlighting the growing concern and awareness among local groups regarding environmental sustainability, the conservation of natural spaces, and the enhancement of community environments.
Similarly, the social inclusion promotion category received 60 applications, demonstrating the efforts made by numerous organizations to develop programs aimed at vulnerable groups, foster equal opportunities, and contribute to a more cohesive and inclusive society.
Finally, the entrepreneurship and innovation category registered 26 projects, focused on encouraging new business initiatives, driving innovation, and creating opportunities for local economic development.
Evaluation phase begins
Following the close of the application period, the process of reviewing and assessing the submitted proposals now begins. The Environmental Pact Monitoring Committee, composed of representatives from the Regional Government of Galicia (Xunta de Galicia) and Ence, will oversee the evaluation and selection process, while the specialized consultancy firm Valora will coordinate the technical assessment of all applications received.
Projects will be evaluated based on criteria such as social impact, scope, feasibility, transformative potential, and contribution to the sustainable development of the region.
Results to be announced in the last quarter of the year
The projects selected under this seventh call will be announced during the final quarter of the year. Participating organizations will also receive individual notification regarding the outcome of their applications, and all information related to the process will be available through the Ence Social Plan website.
Nearly 1,700 projects supported since the program’s launch
Since its creation, Ence’s Social Plan has become a benchmark initiative for the development of Pontevedra and its surrounding area. Over the course of its seven editions, nearly 1,700 projects have received support, helping to improve the quality of life of thousands of people and strengthening the work carried out by the region’s social, cultural, sports, and environmental organizations.
