Sales of Ence’s special products, included within the “Ence Advanced” brand, experienced strong growth in 2021 to account for 16% of the total pulp marketed by the company in the year, up from 9% the previous year. This growth consolidates Ence’s commitment to supplying the international market with products with higher added value and greater efficiency in the use of resources, as part of its commitment to the bioeconomy and the circular economy.
Ence launched the Ence Advanced brand in 2019, as a result of years of work in research, R&D&I and industrial and product development. Under this name are included different pulp proposals designed to meet the needs of specific paper segments, which provide greater added value and stand out for their sustainability, thanks to the lower consumption of resources in their processes and their differentiated qualities. These include the ability to substitute long fibre for short fibre and plastic materials in different applications, offering sustainable alternatives to customers and end consumers.
Ence’s special products include Powercell, a short-fibre cellulose product which, due to its strength characteristics, can replace long-fibre pulp, offering a more efficient alternative in the use of natural resources, as it requires less wood. Naturcell, Ence’s unbleached cellulose, offers strength and quality, as well as a reduced consumption of resources in its production – energy, wood, chemicals and water – compared to standard cellulose. Ence also offers Naturcell Zero, with certified carbon neutrality guarantee, thus helping its customers to reduce the carbon footprint of their products.
In addition, Ence markets other differentiated products, such as low-porosity cellulose, Closecell, intended for applications in barrier papers or labels as well as the replacement of plastic materials in flexible packaging and food wrapping; Decocell, which is particularly suitable and in demand for the manufacture of materials as diverse as decor paper or trays for food use; and Porocell and High White, which can be used in applications such as filter papers, paper for the outer layers of cardboard packaging or high quality printing and writing papers, among others.
