Ence wins the San Alberto Magno Award for Scientific Merit 2024 in Asturias for its contribution to sustainable development

Ence – Energía y Celulosa has been awarded the San Alberto Magno Award for Scientific Merit 2024, a recognition granted by the Official Association of Chemists of Asturias and León and the Association of Chemists of the Principality of Asturias. This prestigious award, in its twentieth edition, highlights ‘the merits achieved by its industrial, technical and scientific activities, which have characterised the management of Ence over more than fifty years, contributing to the sustainable and economic development of the Principality of Asturias’.

The award ceremony took place during the celebration of the feast of St. Albert the Great. At the ceremony, María Luz Sánchez, director of the Navia biofactory, expressed her gratitude for this distinction on behalf of the company: ‘We are deeply grateful for this award. A distinction that not only highlights our work, but also reinforces our commitment to excellence and sustainability in our daily performance’, said Sánchez.

An area, chemistry, that is particularly relevant to the company: ‘Chemistry is essential to us: it is our raison d’être. Through chemistry we are able to do what we do; and there are many valuable chemists who are part of our team,’ stressed the director of the Ence Navia biofactory. ‘We pledge to continue working with the same enthusiasm and dedication, contributing to the development of our beloved region and the advancement of chemistry,’ she added.

This recognition is in addition to the recent award given to Ence’s Asturian biofactory by the Spanish Association of Excellence Promotion Centres (CEX): the Quality Innovation Award (QIA). Considered the most important in the field of Excellence and Quality, this seal was awarded to Ence Navia for the integration of its model of continuous improvement in environmental management, through which significant progress has been achieved.
