Ence Terra launches pioneering training site for chainsaw operators in forestry operations

  • The installation, which is located in Villalba (Lugo), aims to reinforce the safety of forestry operations in chainsaw work.
Ence Terra, a leader in sustainable forest management, has taken a new step in its commitment to safety in the forestry sector by launching an innovative training site for chainsaw operators, located in Villalba (Lugo). This pioneering project in Europe, which has the collaboration of Forma-T, has as its main objective to improve the preventive awareness of professionals in the forestry sector, thus reinforcing safety in their daily operations in the forest.

This training site is designed to provide chainsaw operators with practical and advanced sessions through the use of mechanical simulators of the main risks in the felling of trees with a chainsaw. These simulators allow chainsaw operators to experience and improve how to handle risky situations in a safe and controlled manner, thus reducing the incidence of accidents in the field.

The training site includes several simulators that recreate real forestry work situations. Among them, the simulator of the chainsaw blade bouncing, of falling branches, which stresses the importance of wearing a helmet, or of tensions in the wood during cutting or limbing, among others.

The inauguration of the centre was attended by José Manuel Tubío, Ence Terra’s Director of Standing Supply and Heritage, and Roberto Manteiga, Ence Terra’s Occupational Health and Safety Manager, as well as Augusto Khaler, a leading Chilean forestry expert with extensive experience in the sector, who has collaborated closely in the design and implementation of this project.

The launch of this facility also brought together various forestry associations, representatives of the administration and other key players in the forestry sector, who expressed their support for this new training infrastructure.

This project is a further demonstration of Ence Terra’s firm commitment to health and safety in the forestry sector, a strategic priority for the company in all its operations.
