For Ence, the application of the latest digital technologies, innovation and transparency are key pieces in its business model. Based on these principles, the company has developed and launched the “Crystal Project”, with the main objective of giving business transparency to the main external agents that participate or intervene in the supply of wood and biomass to its biofactories; that is, the forestry sector as a whole.
It is, in detail, to establish a relationship based on detailed information at the time with forest owners, utilization contracts, transporters, suppliers and certification companies. Thus, each of these actors has a user profile on a digital platform, from which they can easily access all the information related to their field of action.
In this way, the owners have access to the documentation related to their sale of wood, contracts, orders, cutting permits necessary per plot, their status, deliveries of wood and biomass in biofactories, invoices and payments, as well as notifications. start and end of harvesting. As for contractors and suppliers, they can consult all the documentation of contracts, orders and agreements, information related to inputs of wood and biomass, billing and payments, among others.
This portal is already in operation, fully implemented in the case of suppliers and contractors. In the case of the owners, it has begun to be implemented in a sample of this group, in order to analyze the particularities of this set as it is the broadest and most heterogeneous in terms of profiles, in order to be able to adequately adapt it to their needs. The company’s forecast is to extend it to all owners who wish to use it this year.
At the same time, and to complete these functions by giving access to any information that may not be included in the portal, the tool is used as a two-way communication channel, for the collection of incidents, requests and complaints, and the dissemination of notices, messages or offers, as well as for the two-way exchange of documentation
“With this platform, from Ence we guarantee that all information related to the wood supply chain is available for consultation in a transparent and simple way, and also that it is truthful, relevant, useful and clear, providing it on a voluntary basis, going further beyond what is required by current regulations in this regard, ”explains José Manuel Tubío, director of Wood Supply at Pie de Ence.
Ence extends the sustainability criteria that it applies in its activity to its entire supply chain, both to agricultural and forestry owners from whom it is purchased directly through the “standing purchase” modality, as well as to suppliers. Ensuring transparency and trust through the new digital tools is another step in Ence’s commitment to the forestry sector and to all the companies and individuals that comprise it.
