Ence has been awarded the Commitment to Galicia Award at the 1st Gala of the Venancio Salcines Foundation, held yesterday in recognition of Galician companies that stand out for their commitment to the development of the territory and the promotion of local talent.
This recognition highlights Ence’s firm commitment to Galician talent, a clear sign of its involvement in the economic and social development of the region. Since 2018, the company has maintained a close relationship with the Venancio Salcines Foundation, which has enabled the training of more than 180 young people through scholarships and educational programmes.
During his speech, Antonio Casal, territorial director of Ence, expressed his gratitude and stressed the importance of Galician youth as an engine of change and progress for the region: ‘We believe in the potential of our land, in the strength of its industry and, above all, in the talent of its people’. He also stated that the company sees in the training and development of young people an investment in the future of Galicia, a more innovative, competitive and sustainable Galicia.
Throughout his speech, Antonio Casal highlighted Ence’s deep roots in Galicia, highlighting key projects that reflect the company’s commitment to the region. He mentioned the Pontevedra biofactory, a benchmark in innovation and sustainability, and the As Pontes bioplant, which is part of Ence’s commitment to the transition to cleaner and more efficient energy sources. He also highlighted the Ence Terra initiative, a project focused on the revitalisation of the Galician countryside, which reinforces support for entrepreneurs, landowners and other local stakeholders.

Outstanding awards for the Galician biofactory
Ence’s biofactory in Pontevedra has been recognised for its efforts in sustainability and environmental care. Among the most outstanding awards and certifications are the AENOR 2023 Award for two decades of environmental commitment. In addition, the plant has received the Nordic Swan ecolabel from the Nordic countries, the Gold Medal from the European Commission for its environmental improvement, and the ‘Zero Waste’ certificate from AENOR. The biomass it uses also has the ‘Sure’ certificate, which guarantees the sustainability of the biomass it uses in its process.
These awards reflect the company’s constant effort to lead the change towards a greener and more sustainable economy, consolidating its role as a benchmark in the industry and its commitment to the community and the Galician environment.
