Ence promotes the use of drones as a tool to improve the sustainable management of its forest masses

The application of the most advanced technologies and the continuous training of its human team are fundamental aspects for the development of the talent of the people who are part of Ence. That is why the company has completed this year, among others, an innovative training in drone piloting for part of its Andalusian staff, with the aim of continuing to improve the sustainable forest management techniques applied by the company.

About twenty people have participated in this initiative, who, after the training received, will be able to use these technological tools in their day-to-day life. This objective is shared by other technical training courses developed, such as training in Geographic Information Systems (QGIS), remote sensing systems or advanced use of virtual platforms.

The piloting of drones offers new possibilities when working on the ground, especially in fundamental activities of the company such as sustainable forest management. Drones are used, among other applications, to assess the health of forest masses, monitor the work that is planned, and to quantify and analyze the risk of fires, further facilitating decision-making before the time of greatest risk .

Ence puts its efforts in the continuous training of its human team. In 2020, and until the month of November, the staff of the company’s Renewable Energy area has accumulated more than 3,100 hours of training. These hours dedicated to the development of people’s competencies have been invested in training that respond to five priority areas for Ence: sustainability, internal leadership, prevention of occupational risks and respect for the environment, regulatory compliance and social awareness, and development of technical and management.

For Ence, the continuous training of its people is a guarantee of the excellence it pursues in its management. In this way, more than 40 training courses as diverse as cybersecurity, diversity and equality in the company, non-sexist language, forest certification, sustainability awareness, self-motivation, safety in teleworking, electrical risk or work at height, among others, have been provided. .

The company is a clear example of a circular economy, it promotes the improvement of the social and environmental environment in which it operates, and is committed to people and sustainability.

Ence currently has three plants for the generation of renewable energy with biomass in its energy complex in Huelva with a total capacity of 137 MW, which make it one of the most important and advanced centers in Spain. In addition, Ence is the main private forest manager in the country, with a significant presence in the provinces of Huelva and Seville, where it promotes the sustainable management of its forest stands.
