Ence promotes the digitalization of the forestry sector during the health crisis

August 27, 2020.- The safety of everyone related to Ence’s activity is a priority for the company. Especially in times of the health crisis caused by the coronavirus, and also in the current phase of outbreaks. New technologies are the perfect ally for professionals in the forestry sector to face this challenge.

Thanks to the firm commitment to the digitization of its processes, at the moment in which the Covid-19 forced the population to stay in their homes and to take extreme precautions against contact with another person, Ence launched a series of tools that They allowed workers in the forestry sector to continue their work in a completely safe way for them and to maintain the activity of the entire chain of companies in the forest.

At the beginning of the confinement period, the company published the website “Stay at home” (https://www.encequedateencasa.es/). Through this page, the owners are provided with the complete completion of the wood sale process without putting their health at risk, by allowing management from home. Thus, if an owner is interested in selling their wood, by accessing this website the Ence team starts the whole process electronically.

Another novelty is the signing of the contract by voice, which generates a phone call between the forest owner and the Ence employee that is subsequently saved, and through which a biometric voice signature is generated, that is, a fingerprint. vowel, which has the same validity as a signature on paper.
Also focused on owners, Ence has developed a mobile application that allows each individual to manage their wood. It contains advice on the management of the plot, from planting to maintenance and use. It also allows the search for nurseries and companies in the sector, as well as estimating the volume and selling the wood of a plot.

The company has created an application to facilitate forest auditing processes, which allows digitizing all the information necessary for field inspections, thus avoiding the use of paper, a material whose handling has been restricted during this period of health crisis due to the possibility of contagion that it carries.

Finally, the use of the Supplier Portal has been encouraged. It is an online tool that stores all the necessary documentation for Ence’s suppliers (delivery notes, status of permits, entry of wood…). In this way, the sending of documentation by mail is avoided and the purchase process is accelerated, while ensuring the safety of both parties.

Additionally, Ence has made a significant investment in technology (such as the installation of additional scales to reduce queues in our biofactories or enabling the operation of external storage parks) with the aim of maintaining the activity of as much of the forestry sector as possible and of ensure the safety of all employees and companies. Ence has worked since the beginning of the crisis to sustain employment throughout the forestry and cellulose chain, using all the means at its disposal to do so.
