Ence’s biofactory in Navia has been awarded the prestigious Quality Innovation Award (QIA) 2024, in its national phase, in the category of large companies, for the integration of its continuous improvement model in environmental management.
This recognition, considered the most important in the field of Excellence and Quality, was awarded by the Spanish Association of Centers Promoting Excellence (CEX). The Spanish phase of the QIA Awards will be presented on November 28 at the headquarters of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) in Madrid. The winning innovations will compete globally for the Quality Innovation Award in its international edition, to be held in 2025. As a result of this achievement, Ence Navia will be the Spanish representative in the international phase of the competition.
The project presented by Ence’s Asturian biofactory has been highly valued for its significant results in terms of efficiency, sustainability and competitiveness. The biofactory has achieved important advances thanks to the implementation of the Total Quality Management (TQM) model.
Fundamental Improvement Objectives
One of the key pillars of this project has been the culture of continuous improvement in its critical processes, where the biofactory has promoted the active involvement of all its collaborators to ensure quality at every stage. Ence has implemented Fundamental Improvement Objectives (FIO) and the SDCA (Standarize – Do – Check -Act) and PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) methodology, guaranteeing the exhaustive control of its environmental vectors, under the strictest international standards.
