Ence today joined the Galician Climate Alliance, an initiative promoted by the Xunta de Galicia that seeks to contribute to the advancement of environmental improvement and curb the effects of climate change in the Galician community.
The Territorial Director of Ence in Galicia, Antonio Casal, today signed the adhesion of the company to this alliance. The signing has materialized in a ceremony at the Ence Biofactory in Pontevedra, chaired by Ángeles Vázquez, Second Vice President of the Xunta de Galicia and Conselleira de Medio Ambiente, Territorio e Vivenda. Agustín Reguera Ocampo, Territorial Delegate of the Xunta de Galicia in Pontevedra, Jose Manuel González González, Territorial Delegate of the Regional Ministry of Environment, Territory and Housing in Pontevedra and, on behalf of the company, Esther Couceiro, Director of the Ence Biofactory in Pontevedra, also participated in this event.
This Alliance finds its raison d’être in two fundamental principles: collective improvement in issues related to environmental care and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals and the 2030 Agenda. To achieve these objectives, and to collectively curb the effects of climate urgency in Galicia, the alliance promotes the creation of synergies between the various agents of Galician society.
Ángeles Vázquez, second vice-president of the Xunta de Galicia and Regional Minister for the Environment, Territory and Housing, highlighted the importance of Ence’s support for the Galician Climate Alliance, which continues to join forces to place the region at the forefront of European regions in the fight against climate change. In fact, this initiative, promoted by the Xunta, already has 95 adhering entities, such as universities, port authorities, sports clubs and companies.
For his part, Antonio Casal stressed that, “for Ence, being part of this alliance is a new step in our commitment to the Galician community, to care for the environment and to the fulfilment of the SDGs. This initiative is presented as a unique opportunity to further progress in sustainable industrial development. At Ence, we are committed to a sustainable future for Galicia, which we want to be part of.
The company reinforces its commitment to Galicia and the environment through its incorporation into this alliance. An initiative that already includes almost a hundred Galician companies, professional associations and trade union organisations, as well as environmental NGOs, civil society organisations and public administrations based in Galicia.
