- This is green financing as it contributes to the EU’s environmental objectives.
ENCE, European leader in the production of eucalyptus pulp and the leading Spanish company in the production of renewable energy from agricultural and forestry biomass, has closed the financing with BBVA for La Galera, one of the first biomethane plants in Spain, under the project finance model.
The company will apply a plan to reorient its production process at this plant, completing it with the manufacture and marketing of organic fertilisers in accordance with European regulations. Specifically, the organic biofertilisers produced will be registered under EU regulation 1009/2019.
Boosting energy autonomy
This approach that the company will apply in La Galera will favour decarbonisation as the biofertiliser produced will not consume fossil energy, saving emissions and contributing to the energy autonomy of our country.
Complementarily, this business model will support denitrification thanks to the management of organic biomass and the substitution of inorganic materials, avoiding soil and aquifer contamination.
